It's no accident that this post is late today. Last night was a special treat. I met @chicagosean and @Misiu357 for some drinks downtown and had an absolute blast.
We hung out at the Bridgehouse on Clark right on the water. It was the perfect night to be outside. The air was balmy and breezy. Evidently, lots of other people thought so too -- it was fun to see so many boats cruising by with groups of people partying and having a good time.
There is a great energy to Chicago that I feel every time I'm here. And sitting across from Sean and Misiu (which fittingly means "Sweetie" in Polish) amplified it all the more. They were both so welcoming to me that I felt instantly grateful for Twitter; they are both class acts. We shared a lot of laughs, and yes, it felt great to be able to talk shop. My most sincere thanks to them both for a great night.
And rest assured that after being so well served by our lovely waitress there were NO joyrides on 94 when I got home later.
I did end up staying up too late with Chris once I made it back to the 'burbs talking about all kinds of funny stuff, and so I was a little slow this morning. I missed a nice pop that came close to the 1193 gap, but fell just short of it. Ticks and A/Ds diverged once again, and volume picked up on the ensuing reversal. As the three of us discussed last night, the market is rallying on light volume and falling on higher volume. Never a good indication . . . unless you're short.
As I Tweeted the day of the memorial service a few weeks ago, I'd love this market to get as high as possible on light volume. I'm holding a well-trimmed SDS position, and I'd rather it was a well-sized position again. But I'll have to be patient.
Who knows what will happen with tomorrow's Jackson Hole surprise. The only thing I know for sure is that the market rarely rewards those who feel it will act the same way each time "something" occurs.
I'd love for 1208 to get hit on a burst of momentary euphoria tomorrow. If not, I'll be eyeing a possible breakdown to the 1000 area over the next several trading days.
On the way to the train, I found this message delivered in an unusual way that made me chuckle. The person who wrote this seemed to understand the meaning of abundance in an unlimited universe. "There is enough to go around."
Five minutes later, a woman asked me for help with directions as I was waiting for the train. I was clueless with directions, of course, so I offered her my phone.
She seemed amazed when I said "Talk as much as you want -- there's plenty."
Glad you had such a blast Marz! That story reminded me of a great Movie that I loved, "Pay It Forward"
