Thoughts On The Affordable Health Care Act

The Joint Committee on Taxation and Congressional Budget Office released some interesting information on what's actually inside the Affordable Health Care Act -- the Act that had to be passed in order to see what was in it.

Maybe they didn't want us to see what was in it.

If it's really about making health care more affordable:

1) why raise the adjusted gross income floor on medical expense deductions by 33% (from 7.5-10%)

Medical costs are going up, but we can deduct less and less of them

2) why reduce the number of medical products that can be purchased through HSA and FSA accounts

How about expanding the number in order to take the burden off the system

3) why increase the penalty for purchasing disallowed medical products with HSA dollars to 20%

The more we exercise our own choices the more we are penalized

4) why tax people 40% if they choose to spend over $10,200 individually or over $27,500 for their families

If we don't purchase health insurance we are taxed, but if we purchase too much we're taxed even more
