Galactic Alignment

Good morning. I hope you haven't woken up penniless because you spent all your money before the end of the world, or have woken up next to someone you don't even know, or were caught in last night's 50 point cascade in the futures market. With all the mindless hysteria, it's easy to miss the point today.

Today is not about the end of the world. It's about Galactic Alignment: the alignment of the December solstice sun with the Galactic equator. And it's not about a moment in time. It's about a process that has been going on for several years and is not over.

According to researcher John Major Jenkins, precession will align the Sun precisely with the galactic equator at today's winter solstice. Furthermore, since the Sun is half a degree wide, its solstice position takes 36 years to precess the equator's full width.

What is the galactic equator? It's the center of the Milky Way. On today's date, we're the closest to it that we're ever going to be.

Since 1998, we've been in transition from the cycle that Vedanta scholars call Kali Yuga, the Age of Darkness and Materialism, to another cycle based on consciousness and awareness. This transition takes many years -- not one day -- as we transition from a feeling that life is simply "a means to an end" or that "the ends justify the means" to a period when we become aware that "the means create the end" or back to the ancient Chinese proverb "the journey is the reward."

As Eckhart Tolle would say: it's the power of now that is important. Because the now (present) is the means to create the end (future). Fear, anxiety, anger, resentment will only bring more things to fear, be anxious of, hate, and resent.

Fear is evident in the overnight futures session. When it became apparent that a deal wasn't happening, 50 points got sliced off the price.

I would have thought we would see a higher open today. I would have been quite wrong. Yet again the market shows it is a stern taskmaster and an unforgiving one. That's why I hedge.

If the S&P opens where it is currently indicated, it will open at a large 38% Fib level around 1408-1410. Below 1411.88 opens the door to the extreme scenario from the other day that targeted 1383.33. I have some puts that were left for dead. It looks like I'll be a buyer today against them should the market settle in and hold.

This is usually my favorite day of the year because it marks the day when the sun finally bottoms out and starts rising again. I swear I can feel it. Happy Solstice, Happy Galactic Alignment, Happy Trading.
